Deliberate goals for 2025
Less really IS more
As 2025 approaches, I'm finding myself in a reflective mood and thinking about the year ahead.
As I'm writing this, I'm REEEEEEEAAALLLLLY reluctant to use the term "resolution" as I feel like it's a bit cliché (especially at this time of year). Instead, I prefer to describe this topic as my deliberate goals for the year ahead.
Can anyone relate to having grand/noble intentions at the end of December, only to wake up on January 1st with this feeling of already falling behind? Yup, me too. I think that's because in the past, I've tried to do too much. This upcoming year, I have a simpler overarching theme: be more intentional and deliberate with time. Use it for things that really matter.
I want to be clear... this does not mean working excessive hours or burning out trying to make every single moment productive. It means acknowledging the fact that time truly is a finite resource. I like to think of this way: imagine that each hour of your waking day is a gold coin. Assuming you get ~6 hours of sleep a day, that's basically 18 gold coins to spend. What would you spend it on? My point: If you re-frame time as a currency with it's own intrinsic value, then it's beneficial to spend it wisely and invest in things that are useful.
So, with that backdrop, here's my list of goals for 2025:
- Reduce physical (and mental) clutter. I've got too much stuff crowding my mind, closet, and office workspace. Sometimes less really IS more.
- Invest in things that save/reclaim/extend time. If time is precious, then efforts that value it are important. This includes things like:
- Physical health
- Mental health
- Prioritize family
There's more to write but this is a good start for now. More to come soon.
